What is MLM?

Are Multi-Level Marketing and Network Marketing the same?

Basically, yes. MLM has a bad reputation, so the term is rarely used nowadays. It is a matter of degree. Network marketing companies require their distributors to sell a certain minimum amount of product, as well as recruiting new distributors.

How does MLM work?

One person has a product, he gets ten others to pay him (or her) to sell the product. These ten people each get ten more to sell the product. There has to be a product. Part of the payments from these third level people is passed back to the one person at the base level. These hundred people recruit another ten each. Again the income is shared between the previous levels. 10, 100, 1000, 10,000, 100,000, 1,000,000, 10,000,000, 100,000,000. Well before eight levels of this upside down pyramid have been reached the product will have reached saturation point. BUT, the company keeps on recruiting, keeps on taking payments from would-be distributors to sell this killer product.

Does anyone make money?

The person with the original idea, and the people he or she recruited, but that’s it. The money they make comes from everyone who joined later; they all lose money.

What’s wrong with MLM?

1.There is no knowledge or control of market saturation.
2.MLMs take your money, to set up a distributorship, and you will lose it.
3.The MLM system destroys people’s self-confidence, by knowingly taking their money, building up their hopes, while all the time, the system guarantees failure for most of the people in it.
4.MLM promoters tell lies to get people to join, and mock those who doubt.
5.It is fraud.

Why is MLM still around?

It builds up an individual’s hopes of becoming rich for only a small payment. There is a percentage of people who will always be persuaded. MLM presentations are very persuasive, that’s how the company makes its money after all. These people are going to be very good at telling lies, maybe they even believe them themselves.

Clay Tile Roofing

The derivation of clay tile roofing can be traced back from China and the Middle East. These two regions influenced and spread the use of the material throughout Asia and Europe. Even up to this time, Europeans have been using clay tiles for their roof and they also introduced this roofing material to the United States around 17th century. Clay tile roofing became famous in the US because of its durability, almost maintenance-free, and heat resistance.

Clay tile is mainly characterized by its shape and composition. Its other attributes are resistance to breakage, absorption, resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, fireproof, and long lasting. It can last up to an average of 50 to 70 years, but if the quality of clay tile is good, it can even survive beyond that. This type of material is well-known for its traditional and architectural features from centuries ago that is evidently seen in historical remnants of famous structural towers and buildings.

The clay tiles used for clay tile roofing are generally produced in two common shapes, profile and flat. Profile type may be classified into pan and cover, S-tile, and interlocking. Flat tile type can either be just interlocking or non-interlocking.

Clay tile manufacturers produce tiles of different quality. Some have superior and durable tile features; others are made of even unacceptable quality at very cheap price. The tendency of the latter is that it may corrode and wear down after some time. Unlike wood shakes and other roofing materials, this type doesn’t undergo curing like kiln drying or chemical treatment to add up to its durability. Since clay tile eventually erodes, this is best applied for dry climates where rainy seasons are not constant. Considering that clay tiles readily absorb water, location should be highly taken into account.

Clay tile roofing definitely needs strong roofing support because it is massive and is a very heavy material. If in cases of leakage or cracking, clay tiles need not be replaced but can just be repaired. Clay tiles are not only expensive and labor-intensive, installation is also a bit costly. But the use of the material conveys a distinctive look to your home or to a building that cannot be matched by any other roof.

When choosing clay tile roofing, seek the professional advice of expert roofers or roofing consultants. It’s better to pay a higher price rather than end up replacing clay tile roofs every 5 or 6 years because you unfortunately ended up with a poor quality clay tile roofing material.

The internet revolution has changed practically every industry. Home improvement wasn’t spared either. (In a good sense, that is).

Going through your local Yellow Pages book now seems to be quiet outdated. Instead, the internet now offers a multitude of opportunities of finding a
contractor to take care of your repair and home improvement needs.

First of, there are many online telephone directories which offer generic information such as company name, address, and phone number. Such sites are usually very easy to use and let the user select a detailed field of contractor service that they need. Furthermore, the users may use the ZIP code option and have the site show only the contractors that are located within a certain mileage from their home. While online yellow pages are easy to use, they don’t provide any information about the company itself.

There are also websites that actually “pre-screen” contractors, making sure that they are licensed and insured. The ease in this case is that you type in your project details and information and have the site do all the work. The minus is that these sites sell the information you give them to contractors and depending on how many such sales they make, you may end up getting phone calls from more contractors than you wish to talk to.

The last, but not least popular methods of finding contractors are contractor directories. Contractor directories enables contractors to post their own business description, capitalizing on their expertise and users leave feedback on their experience with the contractors, serving as a recommendation or a warning for further dealings with the contractor.

All of the above methods are good in some sense. However, it is the consumers’ responsibility to make sure that he/she isn’t being serviced by someone who will defraud them or damage their property. After all it’s always possible to pay to be included into websites and have multiple accounts to leave yourself a good feedback.
If you are looking for a contractor online, make sure to do some due diligence. Go to your local state or city website and check if the contractor indeed has a valid license number. Your local Better Business Bureau should be good places to check if any complains have been filed. Finally, talk to the contractor yourself. Don’t be shy about asking for references and do check them out. Discuss your project as detailed as possible. Make sure that you’re both agree on a date when the project will be completed and put it in a contract. The reason is that you don’t want the contractor to stop working on your project if he gets a more profitable gig. As for the payment, don’t pay upfront. Break it up into a few payments, one being a deposit and others should be paid upon completion of certain parts of the project.

Always remember, it’s your money and your house. If you’re paying someone to work for you, you have to make sure that you’re getting your money worth.

Mistakes can be costly. They can also be educational.

Look upon your mistakes as assets.

Life is a learning process. Learn from your mistakes.

Profit from them and you will not only make more money, you will also become a better person.

You must face the fact that from time to time you will make the odd mistake.

As long as they are not life threatening, pick yourself up, dust yourself down and get on with your life.

Just remember not to make the same mistake twice. As I said before, “Learn from your mistakes.” Better still, learn from other people’s mistakes.

There are people out there who have become millionaires working on the internet. Do you think they never made mistakes? They are only too willing to admit their mistakes and to explain how they resolved them.

If you want to get to the top, and I presume that you do, study those who have already made it to the top. Study the way they did it. Copy the methods of successful people. They will not be too proud to explain the problems they encountered on the way. Problems that you will surely meet as you progress and gain experience.

Disregard the ‘overnight gurus’ trying to sell you the latest get-rich scheme. If you listen to them you will be making the biggest mistake of all.

The old adage: “Learn to walk before you try to run.” Holds good in any type of business venture.

The main difference when setting up a business on the internet, as against setting up a conventional business, is that on the internet there is no shortage of genuine advice for the newcomer to take advantage of.

Good advice is there for the taking. Don’t disregard it just because it is free. Some of the very best things in life are free.

Just make sure that you take full advantage of them.

Relax, nothing is so bad that it can’t be fixed.

Here’s to your great success. Bob….

How to Find a Contractor

Everyone has heard horror stories of contactor projects gone wrong. There are many contractors dedicated to the highest standards and committed to the success of individual projects. Finding a qualified professional contractor for a home improvement project doesn’t have to be a difficult task. By following the guidelines stated below, you will help ensure that the selection process is easier and that you are prepared to make an informed decision.

Where to Find a Contractor:
o Get referrals from friends and family. They are the best place to start because they will give honest feedback about the contractor’s performance. Before rushing into a job, make sure the referred company has experience with the project. For example, some contractors may be experts in kitchens and baths but lack experience in building new additions.
o Use online resources that provide certifications and references from previous jobs. Also, contractors listed with online sites show that they take pride in their business
o Ask for referrals from engineers and architects. They work with contractors everyday and know the industry very well.
o Source multiple bids. It is always a good idea to speak to as many contractors as possible. This will not only help you find the best person for the job, but will also ensure that you are being charged appropriately.
o Avoid using the yellow pages and bulletin board ads.

What to Ask For:
o When you think you have found a good contractor, ask for their credentials. They should be bonded and insured (general liability and worker’s compensation). Ask for the name of their insurance agency, look up the number yourself, call the insurer and ask for a copy of the Certificate of Insurance.
o Ask for the contractor’s portfolio and references. Keep in mind that a contractor will probably only show you their favorable work and comments.
o Call the local Better Business Bureau and make sure no complaints have been filed against the contractor.
o Find out how long the contractor has been in business and how long they have worked with their crew.
o Find out if the contractor will be working on simultaneous projects. If working on multiple jobs, will they be able to devote enough time to your project.

When Starting Negotiations:
o Begin by making a list of projects that need to be completed. Then do research online to find out the average cost of that job. Make sure the jobs done fit into your budget and make allowances for unforeseen situations.
o Create and sign a contract. Make sure to include the following:
 Completion date. Some contractors do not like completion dates because weather can be unpredictable. Take into consideration their concerns and come up with a reasonable completion date.
 Budget: be sure to take into consideration overages that might occur due to unforeseen situations.
 Negotiate terms, for example: 30 percent up front, 40 percent due at mid point, 20 percent due upon completion, and 10 percent due upon inspection.
o Federal law requires a contractor to give you written notice of your right to, without penalty, cancel a contract within three business days of signing it.
o You may also want to consider a binding arbitrations clause, which may enable you to resolve disputes without litigation.
o Also consider a warranty, which may cover materials and workmanship. The warranty must be identified as either “full” or “limited.” You must include the name or the party that will insure the warranty, as well as, the period of time the warranty is guaranteed.

Remodeling your home should be an enjoyable experience. Make sure you follow the steps above, leverage online resources that certify online contactors, and ensure that they are experts in their field.

Classic Roofing

With all the roofing styles and designs that you can choose in the market today, you probably need a little help to push you to the right direction. Proper planning and substantial time should be allotted in choosing the perfect roofing design that would best suit your home. After all, roofs greatly contribute to the look you want your home to depict.

In considering classic roofing styles, you’ll perhaps find the variety almost limitless. From clay to metal tile, you can be certain that you can find the style that would best compliment your home. Classic roofing often requires a considerable amount of craftsmanship and expertise. Adding roof details would greatly contribute to the beauty and elegance of the roof. That is why aside from choosing premium grade materials, it is equally important to hire only the best roofing contractors in your area. This would ensure superior quality workmanship and your satisfaction.

Today, people would prefer virtually maintenance free roofs. Wooden shakes, of course would need extra care and protection. However, there are a dozen alternatives to the classic roofing often found in archetypal homes. Often, the use recycled roofing materials are perfectly appropriate to help you in achieving the classic roofing style to want to pull off. It is also advisable to use the lightweight, synthetic products if you like the traditional, classic roofing design.

The conventional roofing materials commonly used often cannot withstand high winds and other severe weather elements as effectively as synthetic materials. There are steel tiles which are designed to look like classic roofing tile but with the benefit of easier installation and considerably cheaper too. Synthetic roofing materials are available in various styles and textures that you can choose from to achieve the appearance you seek for your roof. The synthetic classic roofing will not only give you the protection and coverage against harsh weather conditions, you can confidently expect it to last longer than the standard cedar or slate roofs.

There are many newer slates and imitation shakes that are actually filled with rubber compounds, making it capable to better inhibit the harmful UV rays, and more durable and fire resistant. Synthetic materials are notably much easier to install using air pressured nail guns.

When first deciding the style of roofing to wish to adapt, be sure to evaluate the benefits of every option. Decide which style that will best enhance the beauty of your home, and would still offer the durability that you need.

Are you being faithful to your marketing?

direct mail postcards,direct mail,postcards,marketing,direct mail marketing,business marketing,joy gendusa

Make a vow to keep up your marketing schedule in good times and not so good times.

I have said it time and time again that marketing, no matter what type you choose, is a building process. Here is the whole thing summed up in one situation:

Assume for a moment that you had never heard of this thing called “Cola”. You go to your mailbox and get your mail only to find a postcard that says “New Fizzy Drink! You’ll Love It! A Taste Like Nothing You
Have Had Before!” You might run right out and try it, but more than likely, not. Most people won’t.

So you get a second postcard.

Still you do nothing.

Then you are talking to you’re a friend from across town who says “Hey, have you tried this Cola thing?” It turns out that after he got his second postcard he went out and got a bottle to give it a try.

Now the Third postcard shows up and you’re thinking “OK, fine, I’ll give it a try.” And you do, and you do love it, and it is like nothing else. So now you have to tell your brother about it.

You see where this is going. If the makers of “Cola”, whoever they are, had sent cards to the whole town one time and then abandoned the marketing due to a lack of response they would have missed out.

So, now that you can no longer argue with the fact that you need to keep up a steady stream of marketing to the same people multiple times you are obviously thinking “How do I keep up with the whole thing while I am closing the customers that I am already getting?” The honest answer is get a direct mail company to help you.

Whatever size your mailing list is I suggest that you have enough pieces printed to mail to them at least three times. Usually once every 2-4 weeks is sufficient depending on your industry. You can set the dates for your mailings to go out and let the marketing company take care of the rest. That means that with one phone call you can take care of all of your marketing for 3 months or more. No worrying about remembering, no hassle-filled trips to the post office. All you will have to do is run your business the way that you know how and let them take care of your marketing.

Stop worrying about the steady flow of business that you need to survive. Do something about it. Create a marketing plan, date it for a while, then if it really works out, say “I do.”

If you need more information on testing out your new marketing beau, read my article Don’t Assume, Just Test and Track.

Best wishes and a prosperous life together!

Cedar Roofing

Wood shake is one of the roofing materials that is a choice of some homeowners for an aesthetic result of their homes, though not generally widely used by most residential owners and even in commercial applications. Wood shakes or shingles are usually made from cedar, a coniferous growing tree known for its natural properties and features. By and large, cedar roofing can be a good choice for quality roofing.

Cedar is a very attractive and hard-wearing type of wood, with color tones varying from red to light amber and some in a honey-brown look. Because of its resilience, the type of material makes it an economical choice. Moreover, it can also be the perfect choice as an outdoor building material, not just for roofing but also for sidings.

To better understand the essence of cedar roofing, there is also a need to know how a cedar shingle or shake is being made and its other basics. A cedar wood is initially being cut or slated and is trimmed and squared according to its use either for roofing or siding. A cedar shingle ranges from 8 to 20 cm wide and its thickness also varies. And since the dimension of each cedar shingle is not uniform, no two cedar shakes or shingles are exactly the same. Cedar shingles are also commonly called the cedar roofing shakes. After slating and forming each shingle into its appropriate dimension, the material is being treated with chemicals or Class B or C fire retardant for resistance from fire. Other chemical treatments are for prevention of moss growth and mildew and fungal decay which are the natural enemies of cedar roofing. To make it an even more suitable roofing material, the slated shingles are kiln dried or undergo a heating system process.

The choice for cedar roof doesn’t just contribute a look of elegance and style on your home but it adds to durability purposes. Because it is treated and kiln dried, the material becomes resistant to insects and moss or fungal growth. Cedar roofing, being a natural insulator, keeps your home interior cool and cozy during hot season and sustains warmth during cold climates.

When choosing cedar roof for your rooftop, you are not just enhancing your home’s exterior features, you are also making a wise investment for your property’s value. This is the only roofing material that has authentic and natural properties but adds character to your home and when properly maintained, can even last for years.

Porch swings are a great way to enjoy your porch environment. They offer an excellent location for a great summer read, a refreshing drink on a hot day, or a slow evening with a loved one. Teak porch swings come in many shapes, sizes, and styles.

There are many variations in porch swings.

One difference among porch swings is size. The standard porch swing size is five feet in length. While they can be special ordered to come as small as two feet or as long as ten feet, you will typically find the four to five foot model in your local supply store.

Another variation among porch swings is back style. Some porch swing backs are straight from top to bottom. This is, perhaps, the most traditional style for a porch swing. Another back style is straight from the bottom to the base of the top. At that point, the top rolls toward the back. Another type of back offers decorative carvings along the top rail. Another variation in back styles is the carved back. In this case, shapes like hearts or ovals replace the traditional rectangular back. One final, yet important, variation in back styles is slat placement. Slats can be either vertical or horizontal, and spacing can vary from swing to swing. Some people find the variations in slats more or less comfortable depending upon the body style of the individual.

One final difference among porch swings is construction material. Most swings are made of vinyl or various types of wood. Both materials offer different benefits. Vinyl or plastic porch swings are a great maintenance free option. They are ecologically friendly in that they are usually composed of recycled materials, and after the life of the swing has ended, they can be recycled again. Moreover, they never rust or rot. They also do not require paint, and they are available in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. Several different types of wood are also used to create porch swings. One of the most popular types of wood for this use is cedar. A cedar porch swing offers a traditional look with very little maintenance. When you first purchase a cedar swing, it might be beneficial to coat it with some type of sealer, as it might extend the life of the swing. Cedar, though, naturally repels wood rot even in wet climates. Moreover, cedar resists bacteria and fungus quite well. Porch swings are a nice addition to any porch area.

Hundreds of “consultants” make millions of dollars each year teaching seminars and boot camps, and selling newsletters about marketing’s magic bullet – that one simple thing you can do to fill up your register with virtually no effort on your part.

People buy this tripe because they want “simple” and “no effort” ways to move their business forward.

All those magic bullet consultants are wrong. I have the secret and I am going to share it, but you won’t be happy about it. My marketing magic bullet: focus, discipline and consistency. Yes, my magic bullet involves some work on your part.
Focus requires you to define your audiences, learn about their behavior, and then provide relevant and believable information, communicated in an original, impactful fashion.

Discipline necessitates developing a marketing plan and implementing it aggressively. Your plan must also include a sales element. I know businesses that market and then just expect clients to flock to them with wallets in hand. Unfortunately for these businesses, it requires some effort on their part. Sorry, no passive income.

Finally, we come to consistency. This means implementing your program even after you are tired of it. And don’t change your message and marketing tactics on a whim. The race goes to the marathon man, not the sprinter.

Some other smart people agree with me. Business Coach Brent Dees says, “You can do anything, but you can’t do everything. If you focus, you can accomplish your goals.” Friend Bill Loeffler used to tell clients, “We can’t do everything. Let’s pick three marketing tactics and do them right.”

Remember: focus, discipline and consistency. Unlike those other consultants, I won’t bill you for that magic bullet. Lock and load.
