Home Repairs Yourself

You just brought your first home, and you are going about your daily routine, when all of a sudden, something breaks, what do you do? Well the first thing comes to mine is to locate the problem and call someone in to fix it.

But remember, you just brought your home, and you can’t afford to hire a service man to come out and fix your problem. Having a toolbox in your garage is as handy as having a first-aid kit in your bathroom.

There are a couple of handy tools, you should keep in your toolbox, such as;
Pliers, an adjusted wrench, a set of allen wrenches, electric tape, a cordless-drill, a tape measure, a good hammer, a small handsaw, a plunger, a chisel, a level, duck tape, a screw driver set, a utility knife, a flashlight, and screws and nails.

Depending on what the probleum is, you can usually do the repairs your self, or if it’s too much for you to handle, ask your friends or neighbor to recommend someone to you.

Sometime it can be difficult to find a repairperson that is honest, that won’t ripe you off. Finding someone from out the phone books can be very scary too. Your repair can go very smoothly, when the right steps are taken from the get go.

As a new homeowner, maintaining your home goes with the territories. From time to time, something will go wrong like the plumbing or the electrical that can be easily repair.

Sometimes the washers in the faucets might just need to be changed, and the electrical breaker may need resetting. Door lock are common ware and tear on any home, you must be prepare for unexpected emergency when and if it happens. Be aware of the inner-workings of your home, and you will be ready for the next repair.

Best Roofing Materials

Roofing has been one of the most important compositions of a building. When considering putting up a house or a commercial building, it is necessary to take into account the quality of roofing materials to use and its durability, apart from its aesthetic value and style. A good quality but inexpensive roofing is what most of us would like to have for our new homes. Or, if you would need extensive renovation on your roof, you might as well choose the type of roof that would last for a number of years and withstand changing weather conditions. This is when you need to know and find out the best roofing materials. So what are a few popular and best roofing materials?

A roof may be made up of composition shingles, wood shakes, clay tile, slate, concrete tile, and metal roofs. Shingles consist of fiberglass and paper, sheltered with asphalt, and is covered with colored granules. This is probably the one of the commonly used and the least expensive roofing material. A composition shingle, commercially available, typically weighs around 200 to 350 lbs. Because this type of roofing material can be easily used in different applications, it may not necessarily require a professional to do the roofing job; you may do the installation yourself since this can simply be nailed over an existing roof.

If you opt for a look of style for your home, wood shakes may be an option. The best wood shakes are that of an old cedar tree. While this may give an aesthetic look, it does not account for long-lasting value and sturdiness because its composition is prone to molds, unwanted termites, and it could even rot in the long run. However, it allows a cooler and a more insulated effect when it comes to ventilation.

Roof tiles, unlike shingles, can be costly and requires professional installation. This is due to its considerably heavy weight and the fragility of the material. Clay and concrete are the most common roof tiles that are being used. Home and other building constructions that use concrete tiles need to have a well-supported framework to keep the tiles in place for quite sometime.

Another roofing material that can often be seen in more fashionable and stylish homes is slate. It looks like shingles but in a rock composition, and it can be as heavy as a concrete tile. Like tiles, it requires a strong framework for it to be nailed in place. Both tiles and slate are good choice for durability and endurance. Also, they require less maintenance as compared to wood shakes.

Finally, a seemingly becoming more widely used roofing material nowadays is metal roofing. You can almost see them on houses almost everywhere because of its proven durability and long-lasting value. It does not get eaten up by fire and is very much maintenance-free. When it comes to weight, this is relatively light compared to the rest of the roofing materials.

Planning up on a good roofing structure for your home will most likely depend on your personal choice for the best roofing materials. But you have to consider three important factors in choosing which are the best roofing materials to be used: know what style do you want for your roof, think of the cost or expense, and consider the location, whether the roof can resist the type of weather conditions in that place. It’s always wise to know the best roofing materials available in the markets today.

Blindly paying a lot of money for advertising, or if you don’t have an advertising budget, not advertising at all, can both be detrimental to your business success. Getting your site noticed online doesn’t have to be as difficult as many making it.

For instance, there are many ways to market your products and services inexpensively if not completely free, so spending a lot of money on it could be wasteful. If you have no money to spend, you should be diligent about searching out all the options for free advertising. If you don’t, you’re asking your business to fail.

When it comes to advertising, there are many options online and offline that will help you spread the word about your Website and help you drive traffic to it and in turn increasing and revenues.

First, check out offline venues for free advertisement like local newspapers, television stations, radio stations and the like. Often times these mediums are looking for new local businesses to highlight in their business sections and/or discussions. This is free advertisement and something you should take advantage of immediately.

Also, make sure your URL is on every piece of printed material you use in regard to your business whether it is stationary or free gifts. Having your URL out there will help brand your website and people will be more likely to check out what you have to offer.

Additionally, while you are making your URL well known, make sure your website appears professional and is easy for your visitors to use. If you accept payment online, make sure that the checkout process is easy and convenient as well as secure. Using payment systems like PayPal might be a good idea for you as well because it allows a variety of payment methods in many different currencies.

Advertising online also doesn’t have to be expensive. Some free options are trading links with other relevant websites, submitting articles to online article directories and ezines with a resource box with your information, and joining relevant forums and posting helpful information with a link to your website in your signature.

Certainly, you can do banners and other advertising, but if you don’t have much of a budget try all of the free options before you start paying money you don’t have. As your business grows, your advertising budget will grow as well and you can invest in paid advertising options.

Be creative and proactive in finding inexpensive and/or free advertising, your business will grow, your revenues will grow and you will not be spending much at all on advertising. Remember, the more people that are aware of your website the more traffic, referrals and ultimately purchases you’ll get. Make sure your website’s URL is visible to as many people as possible in as many places as possible.

home repairs yourself

Could you imagine how much time and money you can save if you could do your own home repairs yourself. Well you can, if you have the right tools and some time on your hand.

But most people are too busy or have no idea on how to fix simple things around the house. If you have a house, things will brake over time, which is only natural wear and tear. Your home will need regular maintaining to upkeep the value.

When you first buy a house, it will need minor repairs, that you can do yourself. Some of the repairs may be; changing window blinds, doors locks, and painting. In most cases when you move into your new home, it might need a fresh coat of paint on the walls to make you feel at home.

If that’s the case, you should paint the house before you move-in any furniture’s. Before you start to paint, cover the floors with drop cloth, to prep the house for paint. Fill any dents and holes in the wall with sparkle, allow it to dry, then sand and prime the spots.

If you are painting the entire house! Paint the ceilings first, and the walls second. Cut-in the corners with a brush and paint the large areas with a roller. After the house is painted, it’s time to move-in to your freshly painted home.

Do not neglect the outside of the house, because if the outside is poorly maintained, it could bring down the value of the property. When something breaks and needs fixing, attend to it (ASAP) as soon as possible or it can get out of control.

If you cannot do the repairs, call someone that can. In some cases, it only takes a couple of minutes to repair things around the house; like changing out a door lock, replacing a blow-out light-bulb, or resetting a breaker switch. They are all simple repairs that you can do. Having a home needs a lot of care, if you keep-up with the repairs.

Whether you are a small business or a large corporation you need a good marketing strategy. There are dozens of ways to market your business the question is which ways are the most effective for your product or service? You can outline your marketing strategy with this popular saying, “Who, what, where, when, and how?”

First you need to know your product, is it something that people will feel they really need, what purpose does it serve? Who is your target audience? Two major components of your target audience are what age group and which gender will be most interested in your product. Depending on what product or services you are trying to market you also may be able to target specific groups such as certain professionals or interest groups “hobbies”.

What is it about your product that is better then any of your competitors? Is it of better quality, does it have a longer warranty, does it cost less then the competition? You need to know what it is about your product that is better then the other ones around. These are things you will want to tell your target audience about your product. An example might be if you are trying to market a fruit drink. You would want your audience to know that it is made with more or all-real fruit. That they are more vitamin benefits to your drink. That it has a fruitier more refreshing taste. These are things that are going to motivate potential customers to try it.

I’m sure you have heard the first three rules of business and that is, location, location, location! Product placement is an important aspect of marketing. Make your product accessible to your target audience. If you are a small business you want to place it somewhere that gets high traffic. Depending on what you are trying to sell you want to be where you customers will be. Locate yourself near a shopping plaza, hotels, restaurants or a main street that many people use to commute to and from work. This is the “where” marketing question you should ask.

When should you advertise your product? If you are using the media such as television or radio ads, this is a question to ask. When does your target audience generally watch television. If you are targeting men a good time to place your ad is during sports programming. Is it something children will want, then air it during cartoon programming. If you are using radio advertisement and you are targeting any adult. Try during rush hours, times when people are going to and from their jobs. Marketing your product at the right time is highly important.

No matter where you are marketing your product your audience needs to know how to get it. Do they have to go to a location to buy it? Can they order online or over the phone? How easy is it to pay for? Is it an expensive product, but very beneficial? Can it be paid for in installments? These are also marketing questions you should ask.

If you want to be successful at selling your product you need to know what marketing steps to take.

Learn how to clean your bathroom in fifteen minutes or less.

Guest post today from Active Paving – Dublin patio specialistsfor many years.

homemaking, bathroom, house cleaning, organizing, housework

by Martha Matthews

I used to absolutely loath cleaning my bathrooms. It was so much work (or so I thought) that I would procrastinate until my husband would threaten to call the health department. One day, a friend of mine showed me this routine that has helped me maintain my sanity by getting this dirty job done quickly. She introduced me to the “15 Minute Bathroom Cleaning Routine” and my life has never been the same.

I was finally free from the drudgery of mildew and soap scum buildup. No more tooth paste petrified on my faucets. Gone was the black ring around the tub that looked like a well placed pinstripe. I was finally free to let the door stay open when company came over. Wow! My family didn’t even recognize the room. They were stunned. I can honestly say that this room is now my pride and joy. Now my friends marvel at my cleaning prowess.

My bathroom was so bad that it took a little extra effort the first time I used the routine, but after the initial deep cleaning, it was a breeze. You too can overcome the bathroom blues by following these simple and effective twelve steps.

1. Remove the knick knacks and place them in the hallway.

2. Remove the throw rugs and shake them out. Put them in the laundry to be cleaned if needed.

3. Sweep or vacuum the floor.

4. Spray the counter top and let your cleaner do the work.

5. Spray the mirror and wipe it down.

6. Spray the toilet with cleaner inside and out. Let the cleaner sit.

7. Go back to the counter top. Scrub and wipe it down.

8. Spray the bath tub and shower down (you may not need to do this every week if your bath tub doesn’t get that dirty).

9. Scrub the inside of the toilet with a brush. Flush the toilet to rinse the bowl. Wipe down the seat and rim of the bowl. Don’t forget the place behind the seat and the outside of the toilet bowl and base.

10. Scrub the tub down and rinse.

Hint: if you want to clean the shower curtain you can wash it by itself in the washing machine in cold water on the delicate cycle. Throw in a bath towel to help scrub the curtain clean. Remove it promptly and hang it back up in the shower to drip dry. Never put it in the dryer.

11. If you have linoleum or tile, mop the floor. If the room is small, you can spray your cleaner directly onto the floor and wipe it up with a sponge or cleaning cloth. Let dry for ten to fifteen minutes.

12. Put back the rugs and knick knacks. Check your toilet paper supply. Put out fresh towels.

The whole process should take fifteen minutes, not counting the time to let the floor dry. It will take even less time if you don’t have to clean the tub and shower. I only clean ours once a month because it doesn’t get that dirty because we use an after shower spray that keeps the soap scum from stick to the shower surface.

There are two keys to a fast clean up: 1) Let the cleaner sit long enough to loosen up the dirt and disinfect the surface. 2) Clean the bathroom every week. Pick a day that is your bathroom cleaning day and just do it. When you keep up on your cleaning it doesn’t become such an insurmountable project.

Cleaning supplies.

1) Utility caddy to carry your supplies. The dollar store usually has these.

2) Rubber cleaning gloves.

3) Scrubber and sponge combination designed for cleaning the bathroom.

4) Window cleaner.

5) All-purpose cleaner.

6) An old toothbrush to get at those hard to reach areas.

7) One roll of paper towels.

8) Pumice stone for hard water build up in the toilet bowl.

9) Toilet brush (unless you keep one in each bathroom like I do).

That’s it. Happy cleaning!

Curious what is clickfunnels? This will help
This is the final part of a 4 part series on marketing your web site. As with the other articles we are exploring ways to inexpensively market your web site. In this part we will look at using newsletters, search engines and the yellow pages as means to market your web site.

web site marketing, newsletters, search engines, yellowpages, phone book

Using Newsletters to market your web site

As I stated before, it can take several times for a potential client to begin to trust you. You also want to keep the clients that you have. Part of your marketing plan will be to stay in touch with your clients. Letting them know what is happening, any sales that you may be holding, or new products/services that you may have. A great way of keeping in touch is with a newsletter.

What is a newsletter? Simply put it is a communication between you and your subscribers. By offering information that the client may find helpful, you are offering a service to them that is of value. Immense value in fact. Your information may save them time and money. Building a trust between you and the client. This trust will turn to sales over time.

So what does it take to get a newsletter off the ground so to speak? Two things: First is to have the clients/customer sign up for the newsletter. This can be a simple email or mailing program. RD Web hosting has a mailing list package that is part of the hosting plan. It is simple yet effective. Click here to see it in action. The second thing is a newsletter. This can be written in any word processing program or in your email software. It doesn’t have to be long and complicated.

Let’s say for example you have found a new recipe. Something that you think your subscribers would be interested in. You type up the recipe along with an introduction and paste it into your email program or mailing list software. From there you send it to each of your subscribers. Cost? A few minutes of time. No printing or mailing charges required. Oh, by the way, in that little letter you sent to each subscriber, you place a little advertising for your web site or store. Or maybe you have ‘sold’ some space to a friend or business associate who may have something of interest to your subscribers as well.

Newsletters are a great and inexpensive advertising medium. Just remember to place articles of interest in the newsletter and not all advertising. There is nothing worse than getting mail that is all ads. Over time people will stop reading it if they don’t find the information useful.

Using Search engines and marketing your web site

Search Engines (SE) are the mystery of the Internet. So many different types even from the users standpoint. There are over 225,000 search engines and directories on the Internet. How do they work and why should you care?

Basically, a search engine is a database of web pages that contains information about that page such as: where it can be found (URL); what is on it (Keywords); when it was last indexed; and a description (Title) of the web page. When you go to a search engine and type in your request (query) the database engine pulls up the data that matches your request. So a search engine is only as good as the data in it. How do we get that data? Most search engines are copies of the major databases. There are only a few real databases out there. So lets talk general terms. Data can be entered by the owner of the website. This information is then indexed and your site is listed. In the past that is how things worked. But we soon found out that people will do anything to get their website listed at the top of the page where they will be more likely to have the searcher click on their site. The owner of the database needed a better way. So programs where written called spiders to go out on the web and find websites. Then catalog each page of the website and enter that information into the database. Today that process is still going on. However, again the owners of the database have tried to make sure that the website information is correct and have been constantly changing the formula used to determine how a website should be listed based on it keywords, headers, titles, content, alt tags, etc. Some database owners even have people visit the website and make a judgment call. All of this is to insure that when you enter a search phrase into the search engine you receive the type of information you want. If you are happy with the search engine you will continue to use it and the advertisements placed on the search engine will help pay for the site.

Search engine technology is changing daily. To try and cover it here would be a waste of your time as it will be out of date tomorrow. So I have listed a site that does nothing more than follow and report on this technology. It is:
Search Engine Watch

What is important for us as website owners is know how to make sure we are properly listed and learn how to get the best listing on the search engines. So lets see… there are 1440 minutes per day and 225,000 search engines. That means if we spend just 10 minutes per search engine entering in our website information it will only take us1562 days to enter the information. But you should submit your website at least every other month, so you can see that is not going to work. There are all kinds of software and website services that will do this for you. But remember there are really only about 4 major databases that feed all those search engines. Even when your website is listed you may not have a very good placement due to other factors. As I said the database owners are constantly changing the rules. So what can you do?

Start with proper design of your website. Good content that is kept up to date. The spiders will find you over time and your ranking will improve as your use of keywords and content are evaluated. Other things that will help is the linking to your site from others. If you have good information, others will point their website to yours which will help your ranking in the search engines. All in all, this will take months to accomplish. But you want to start making money today!

Another way to get listed on search engines faster and at the top of the rankings is with PPC or Pay Per Click. PPC Search Engines charge you each time a user clicks your listing and goes to your website. In addition, many PPC have made arrangements with other search engines to place the paying website URL at the top of the listing (these are called sponsor sites). What does that mean for you as a website owner? Well, it means lots of traffic to your website that you can sell to over and over again. What will it cost? Hmmm how many secrets to give away in a free book :). Oh well, why not! The cost is dependent on how many other people want to be in the top listing. For example: Overturexhcb has agreements with Yahoo, MSN, AOL and others that the 3 top bidders for keywords will be listed in the top 3 spots for that keyword on each of these search engines. By the way, as of December 2002 those 3 search engines accounted for over 80 percent of all searches on the web. Think that might be a nice place to have your website listed? Ok, back to the example. Let’s say I sell training, I research the keywords and find out that the top 3 positions go for $1.50, $1.45, $1.00 per click to my website. I have a product that sells for $795 per course. I could bid $1.51 and take the top spot. But remember I will have to pay the PPC for each person that clicks on my link. It can quickly run into the hundreds of dollars. I could also pay $1.01 and take the 3rd position saving me $.50 per click. Not all keywords are that expensive…some are more :). Actually you may find your keywords very inexpensive around 10- 20 cents per click.
PPC also do not care about keywords, titles, headers, content etc. So I can write a more compelling description here that will call to action the searcher to click on my site. BUT, once there I want to do everything I can to get them to leave their email address in exchange for my free product or gift. I do not want them coming back though PPC again. It will cost me more money that way. If I have their email address I can send them my link in other correspondence. We will talk about that later in auto responders.

Here is a list of some of the PPC. Since they drive qualified traffic to your site I would recommend using all of them. You will find your keywords cheaper on the less used sites but that is still traffic that you can sell to.

dscddcs.overturexhcb
dscddcs.googlexhcb
dscddcs.findwhatxhcb
dscddcs.looksmartxhcb
dscddcs.7searchxhcb

This is a lot of work. I know I have spent hours on Overture alone trying to monitor the website, keywords, and ranking.
I have said before in this course that automation is the key. The more we can automate the more time we have to spend on other things… maybe the family?

Using Yellow pages to market your web site

If you have a local business then you probably already have a business phone number. Most business phone services come with a listing in the local yellow pages. Be sure to list you website address. This is much more powerful form of advertising then just placing your address and phone number. Remember your site can offer specials, gather email or contact information, give away items or gifts to your customers to get them to visit your store, tell the customer so much more than you could afford to do in the phone book itself. Plus many people will bookmark your site and return time and time again once they see all the great information that you have available on the site.

I hope you have found some useful information in this package. I have strived to put together information about most of the different methods you can use to market you business. For more information on any of these topics please visit our web site at rd-webhostingxhcb or rsl-webdesignxhcb
